The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) Hollywood 2018 – 26th World Congress

The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), staying true to its annual tradition of bringing together physicians involved in hair transplantation, is organizing its 26th World Congress in Hollywood, USA, in 2018. The congress will take place from October 10th to 14th and will host physicians from around the globe who specialize in hair restoration surgery.

Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis, MD, PhD — a member of the ISHRS, Diplomate and Board Member of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), and President of the Hellenic Academy of Hair Restoration Surgery (ELAMAT), the official Greek chapter of the ISHRS — will actively participate in the congress as a member of the ISHRS organizing committee.

He will contribute to various aspects of the event, serving as a session moderator, speaker, and presenter, and will also take part in the Live Patient Viewing segment, among other activities.

More specifically, Dr. Anastassakis will deliver a presentation during the Advanced/Board Review Course on the topic “Transplantation of the Crown”, focusing on the challenges and techniques involved in restoring hair in the crown area of the scalp.

In his capacity as President of ELAMAT – the official Greek Chapter of the ISHRS – Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis will also participate in the Global Council of Hair Restoration Surgery Societies Meeting, which brings together representatives from ISHRS-recognized chapters worldwide.

For the second consecutive year, the ISHRS has once again selected Dr. Anastassakis, MD, PhD, to serve as Chair of the Morbidity & Mortality Conference — one of the most important sessions jointly held by the ABHRS and ISHRS.

A particularly notable honor is the participation of Dr. Marco Barusco, MD, FISHRS, Diplomate and President of the Board of Directors of the ABHRS, and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, who will serve as Vice-Chair of the Morbidity & Mortality Conference.

The Morbidity & Mortality Conference presents case data from complex or challenging hair transplantation procedures where physicians encountered complications or difficulties. It is considered one of the most critical sessions of the ABHRS and ISHRS congress, requiring the Chair to possess exceptional knowledge, comprehensive training, and extensive professional experience.

In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis will be honored at the ISHRS General Membership Business Meeting & Awards Ceremony.

For the second consecutive year, Dr. Anastassakis has also been appointed as a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Regulatory Issues – Subcommittee on European Standards. This committee is responsible for monitoring regulatory developments in hair restoration across various regions and advising the ISHRS Board of Governors on matters concerning global standards and compliance

Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis, MD, PhD, will deliver another lecture at the conference’s general session, focusing on the evaluation and management of the donor area by physicians. His presentation, titled “A Stitch in Time Saves Nine,” presents a preliminary comparative study on the healing of the donor area using different wound closure techniques.

Another major achievement for Dr. Anastassakis and Anastasakis Hair Clinic is his selection as one of only eight physicians, out of over 1,100 ISHRS members worldwide, invited to participate in the prestigious Live Patient Viewing.

The case Dr. Anastassakis will present involves a Greek-American physician who traveled from the United States to Greece to entrust Dr. Anastassakis with his hair transplantation. The aesthetic excellence that defines Dr. Anastassakis’s procedures is what attracts patients from around the globe and will be showcased to his fellow physicians at the event.

Additionally, Dr. Anastassakis continues to serve as a member of the ISHRS Continuous Medical Education (CME) Committee, overseeing all ISHRS activities and programs related to ongoing medical education. The committee ensures adherence to accreditation guidelines established by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)

Joining Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis, MD, PhD, at the ISHRS World Congress is Ms. Maria Chatzina, BBA, Head of Marketing at Anastasakis Hair Clinic.

Ms. Chatzina will participate in the workshop titled “Social Media, Reviews, Consents, Filming Surgery.” Additionally, following a special invitation from ISHRS Executive Director Mrs. Victoria Ceh, MPA, she will take part in the Industry Issues Round Table Meeting alongside members of the Board of Governors and selected thought leaders from around the world. This highly significant session focuses on launching a global public awareness campaign to combat the growing issue of hair transplantation procedures being performed by non-physicians and unlicensed personnel.

For the first time, the ISHRS — the largest scientific community of hair restoration surgeons — is laying the groundwork for a worldwide “wake-up” campaign. This initiative aims to address the critical problem of the expanding black market in hair transplantation, which unfortunately thrives through illegal clinics openly advertising low-cost procedures conducted in unsuitable environments without proper medical oversight.

We wish Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis and his team the best of luck as they proudly represent our country at the 26th World Congress of the ISHRS. We look forward to the latest insights and developments that will be presented at this prestigious international event.
