Dr. Anastassakis is one of only 220 Diplomates of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) worldwide since 2015, having achieved this distinction through the ABHRS diplomate experience route, which recognizes significant experience and qualifications in hair restoration surgery. From 2017 to 2021, he was successively elected Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President of the ABHRS Board of Directors as an elected member—the only Greek physician ever elected to such a high-ranking position. He has been a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) since 2009, and a Fellow of the ISHRS since 2019. He is also the author of Androgenetic Alopecia from A to Z, published by Springer in 2023, following the original Greek edition in 2015.
Studies
Αfter graduating Magna Cum Laude from Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Dr. K. Anastassakis completed his mandatory two-year rural medical service in Volos, Greece. In 2001, he pursued a one-year residency in General Surgery at Patision General Hospital in Athens. He then served for 19 months in the Hellenic Air Force as a Reserve Officer, completing his service in late 2004 with the rank of Second Lieutenant. A year later, he began a four-year residency in Otolaryngology at the “G. Gennimatas” General University Hospital of Athens. In 2008–2009, he was awarded an honorary fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery at the Universitätsklinik für Hals-Nasen-Ohrenheilkunde, Kopf- und Halschirurgie (University ENT and Head & Neck Surgery Clinic). In 2010, Dr. Anastassakis completed his PhD at Democritus University of Thrace, where he also worked for over three years. That same year, he opened his first private practice office exclusively dedicated to Surgical Hair Restoration in Maroussi, Attica. In 2017, he relocated the clinic to larger, state-of-the-art facilities in Chalandri, Attica (Greece), to better serve the growing demand for advanced hair transplantation procedures.
