Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis is a Head & Neck Surgeon (MD, PhD), a member of the Athens Medical Association, and a specialist in hair restoration surgery.
In short
He is one of only 220 Diplomates of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) worldwide since 2015. From 2017 to 2021, he was successively elected Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President of the ABHRS Board of Directors—the only Greek physician ever elected to such a high-ranking position. He has been a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) since 2009, and a Fellow of the ISHRS since 2019.
He is also the author of Androgenetic Alopecia from A to Z, published by Springer in 2023, following the original Greek edition in 2015.
Studies
Αfter graduating Magna Cum Laude from Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis completed his mandatory two-year rural medical service in Volos, Greece. In 2001, he pursued a one-year residency in General Surgery at Patision General Hospital in Athens.
He then served for 19 months in the Hellenic Air Force as a Reserve Officer, completing his service in late 2004 with the rank of Second Lieutenant. A year later, he began a four-year residency in Otolaryngology at the “G. Gennimatas” General University Hospital of Athens.
In 2008–2009, he was awarded an honorary fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery at the Universitätsklinik für Hals-Nasen-Ohrenheilkunde, Kopf- und Halschirurgie (University ENT and Head & Neck Surgery Clinic).
In 2010, he completed his PhD at Democritus University of Thrace, where he also worked for over three years. That same year, he opened his first private clinic in Maroussi, Attica, dedicated exclusively to Surgical Hair Restoration.
In 2017, he relocated the clinic to larger, state-of-the-art facilities in Chalandri, Attica (Greece), to better serve the growing demand for advanced hair transplantation procedures.

Dr Konstantinos Anastassakis has specialised in Hair Transplantation under the guidance of some of the most renowned surgeons worldwide. Between May 2004 and April 2005, he trained extensively in Follicular Unit Transplantation and Scalp Restoration in New York, Los Angeles, São Paulo (Brazil), and Vancouver (Canada).
From the very beginning of his career as a hair transplant surgeon, Dr. Anastassakis has personally performed every surgical hair restoration procedure at his clinic. He continuously leads and supervises his surgical teams to ensure the best possible outcome for each individual patient. He is actively involved in every procedure, offering hands-on care, and for over a decade, he has been advising and guiding thousands of patients suffering from hair loss.
Dr. Anastassakis dedicates his skills and professional activity to advancing best practices in the field of surgical hair restoration. His mission is centered on accurate patient education, improving the overall treatment experience, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge and expertise among physicians in the field.
Awards & Certifications
Dr. Anastassakis is one of the few non-American physicians worldwide in the field of Hair Transplantation to have earned the prestigious “Experience Route” certification from the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS). Since September 2017, he has also served as a member of the official ABHRS Oral Examination Committee, responsible for assessing new candidates seeking board certification.
Over the past decade, he has actively participated in dozens of international conferences and scientific workshops focused on:

- Evaluation and standardization of patient medical information
- Organization and coordination of surgical teams
- Patient care and management
- Practice organization and the integration of new technologies in the evaluation, consultation, and treatment of hair transplant patients.
He also contributes his time and expertise on a voluntary basis as a member of various ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) committees dedicated to patient safety. Additionally, he takes part in live surgery workshops aimed at training and mentoring new physicians in hair transplantation.
Distinctions & Certifications
He is a founding member and President of the Hellenic Academy of Hair Transplantation & Restoration (ELAMAT – HAHRS), which serves as the national/local branch of the ISHRS. HAHRS is a non-profit organisation, established by physicians from various specialties who are actively engaged in Hair Transplant Surgery. It is a global member of the ISHRS Council and adheres to the principles, aims, rules, and guidelines of the ISHRS and the ABHRS.
Through his active participation in the international scientific community of the ABHRS and the ISHRS, he has undertaken positions and roles dedicated to safeguarding patients against the growing activity of illegal hair transplant clinics and the unauthorised performance of surgical procedures by non-physicians. He works to ensure compliance with the institutional principles of Medical Requirements, Standards, and Procedures in Hair Transplantation.
In November 2019, Anastasakis Hair Clinic was awarded as the Leading Hair Transplant Clinic in Greece at the SALUS INDEX AWARDS 2019, the foremost annual Forum of Excellence in the field of Health. In December 2021, Anastasakis Hair Clinic, under the leadership of Dr Konstantinos Anastassakis, Scientific Director, received the Customer Distinction Award within the framework of the National Customer Service Awards. Over the past three years, the clinic has received more than 11 distinctions at the Medical Beauty Awards, including two Platinum Awards as the leading hair transplant clinic.
